Jan McKenzie

Jan McKenzie acts as a trusted consultant to employers, unions and workers in the management of workplace conflict. Jan serves as an Investigator, Facilitator, Trainer, Designer, Mediator and Arbitrator to assist her clients in finding creative solutions to their workplace conflict and disputes.

She practiced labour and employment law for over 20 years. In 2006, she completed a Masters of Law in Alternative Dispute Resolution at Osgoode Hall Law School. She is on the roster of Arbitrators appointed under the Trade Union Act of Nova Scotia.

She has taught employment law at Dalhousie Law School and has served as a mediation and legal writing instructor for the Nova Scotia Bar Admission course. She has been an instructor for the "Foundations of Administrative Justice" tribunal training program developed by the Nova Scotia Department of Justice. She is teaching Employee and Labour Relations module for the Human Resource certificate program at Acadia University.

Jan has prepared and presented many papers on topics relating to labour and/or employment law and has also conducted a number of workshops on interest based negotiations and alternative dispute resolution.
